Britney Spears reportedly signs new Las Vegas deal
Pop star Britney Spears is set to return to Las Vegas just few weeks after concluding her show stopping performances at the Las Vegas Planet Hollywood resort on New Year’s Eve.
The 36-year-old has signed a deal to perform at the new MGM Park Theater at the Monte Carlo Resort in 2019, as multiple sources reveal in a recent issue of US Weekly.
“They made the offer and she just couldn’t refuse. She loves Vegas!” one source said.
The source also cited that the pop star particularly enjoyed the amount of “family” time she had during her Piece of Me residency with her sons Preston, 12, and Jayden, 11.
“The schedule was perfect for her and her kids, so why not continue?” the source said.
The Piece of Me tour at Planet Hollywood’s AXIS Theater kicked off in late December 2013, where Spears performed her final show on New Year’s Eve. She won multiple “Best of Las Vegas” awards and according to Billboard, the residency grossed upwards of $130 million during its four-year, 249-show run. Spears also took in $1,172,000 according to the Las Vegas Review Journal, setting a Las Vegas record for the highest box-office take ever for a single show of a theater residency in the city.
The Piece of Me residency witnessed many iconic moments with Spears shutting down “lip-sync” critics with her August 2017 remarkable cover of Bonnie Raitt’s “Something to Talk About”. Spears also showed her philanthropic side as she spearheaded a $100 million campaign late 2017, to erect the Britney Spears Campus at the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation. Also, the pop star auctioned off one of her own paintings for $10,000—donating the proceedings to victims of the tragic Las Vegas shooting.
The Park Theater—which would soon host Spears, is currently the spot for repeated performances from A-list artists such as Bruno Mars, Ricky Martin and Cher. The theater which opened in December 2016, with a capacity of about 5,200, will play host to Lady Gaga on a 74-date residency in December. There’s still no missing out on the Vegas experience as fans can play at an online casino while rocking to pop music.
Planet Hollywood did witness lots of emotional moments as one insider noted that her final show on New Year’s Eve “was emotional”.
“There wasn’t a dry eye in the house.” said the insider.
